I am fascinated with this poor façade standing without a building. Did someone start demo work on it and then run out of money? I took a pic of the area behind it and, as you can see, there is absolutely nothing there.

Dear Gretz Beer Building,
I’m just going to come out and say it: I love you.
I know you don’t know me, and my declaration is quite forward, but I think we are meant to be together. Not now, I am not ready, but someday I want you to be mine.
My love may come as a surprise to you, but I have spent many lingering drive-bys taking in your beautiful details and fantastic corner balcony. And, I have to admit, I stalked you a little bit on the Internet. I hope you find it flattering and not creepy.
I know they say you can’t get into a relationship with the goal of changing your partner, but I really think I could bring you to your former glory. Maybe find a great Philly craft brewer to make you productive once more.
Sure, I know you have lots of baggage — tax leins, legal issues and a renovation price tag that would make the less brave pass out — but the things the two of us could do together would be amazing.
If someone else comes along before I am ready to propose, I will wish the two of you the best, however, if it is at all possible, please wait for me.

I actually took my dog here circa 1990.
I Googled this property and was surprised to find nothing. I thought it would have at least gotten a mention on Philly real estate blogs.
I have noticed a little activity in this building lately — some junk being hauled away and new plywood up — maybe someone just bought it. I hope so, then I can post a before / after picture which, in Ruin Porn, is the Money Shot.
